Seat belts are to Sir George Cayley, one of the most important inventors credited seen in history. Cayley was a wealthy landowner, who from an early age, was obsessed with the concept of aerodynamics. As a teenager, he developed a three-bladed propeller that the head of a toy top mounted. When he spun, his head hovering a few inches above the ground! Cayley knew he was onto something. He does not know yet, but had a first draft of what would be the helicopter.
Cayley has devoted much of his research to build a flying machine. At this point, most scientists believed the only way for a man to fly, was a machine that mimicked the wings of a bird. These machines were called "Birds known."
Cayley said that there is a better way to build a flying machine, but by his inability to be a source of power strong enough to send frustrated to find and keep a machine in the air. It was in the late 1700s and early 1800s, before the machines were running on gasoline engines.
